Rasmus Hojlund's time at Manchester United is officially over. The 23-year-old Danish striker has completed a €44 million permanent move to Napoli, ending a loan arrangement that has seen him thrive in Serie A after a difficult period in England.
The United Years
Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 with enormous expectations. His debut season was marked by injury and a slow adaptation, though a run of Premier League goals in the second half of his first campaign hinted at genuine quality. The second season, however, saw him struggle for consistency and ultimately fall out of favour with management.
Napoli Revival
The loan move to Napoli in January proved transformative. Playing with greater freedom, a more supportive structure around him, and in a city that embraced him immediately, Hojlund rediscovered the form that had made him one of Europe's most exciting young forwards. Eleven goals in 20 appearances in Naples — a return that made the permanent deal a formality.
Napoli director Giovanni Manna confirmed: "Rasmus has been exceptional for us. He fits our identity perfectly and we are delighted to make this permanent."
United's Next Move
With Hojlund's departure confirmed, United's search for a new centre-forward intensifies. They have been linked with several top-level strikers and are expected to spend significantly in that area this summer.
